Amanda has really been enjoying coloring lately. She loves to sit down, by herself or with a parent, and color. She has a little coloring spot set up on our table where she can go and sit down to color anytime she wants. We’re trying to teach her the rule that crayons are only for at the table, but this week she has had a few problems with that.
Exhibit A:
She actually did this one, right next to our table, while I was sitting there. Amanda had never even thought about coloring on the walls before, but apparently it just suddenly sounded like a good idea.
Exhibit B:
I’m not sure exactly how this happened. I left the two alone for a minute; Katie was in her highchair and Amanda was playing with her toys on the floor. I didn’t notice it until I was halfway through feeding her – as you might be able to guess from the squash on her nose.
Exhibit C:
I don’t know if you can make it all out, but Katie had drawings on the bridge of her nose, on one side of her forehead, and up in her hairline. I’m not even sure which one of them did it, but I would guess Amanda. I think I would have heard Katie crying if Amanda gave her a pen and then took it away, and she didn’t drop one on the floor. We’re going to have to start a new rule: No drawing on your sister!

I’ve got a great drawing-on-sibling story! When Teanca was 4 and Alex was 2 I had just finished getting them ready for church and I went to get my things. Not 3 minutes later, Alex comes out in nothing but his underpants with hot pink marker all over his body. Teanca marched out proudly behind him holding the marker.
When I asked her why she drew on her brother, she replied, “I couldn’t find any paper.” I calmly walked into another room and cracked up!
Turns out the marker was permanent and Alex went to church as pink as can be!
Good luck with your little artists!
